Dental Crowns are restorations that ‘cap’ over a severely decayed, damaged, discoloured or significantly weakened tooth. By placing a dental crown over a tooth where its structural integrity has been compromised we can strengthen the tooth and protect it from further damage. Besides strengthening a damaged tooth, a dental crown can also be used to improve its appearance, shape or alignment. Current generation tooth coloured Emax or Zirconia crowns can look and feel like real teeth. Crowns extend the lifespan of heavily filled (restored) teeth.
The process for a Dental Crown or “Tooth Cap”
Classic Smiles has ground breaking Cerec technology whereby Emax single crowns and small dental bridges can be made for you on the same day. In most cases the dental crowns are sent away to be crafted in a dental laboratory. Classic Smiles also provides more traditional porcelain fused to metal and full gold dental crowns.

Dr Zafiropoulos may recommend a dental crown for the following issues:
With porcelain crowns, our current practice is to prefer the use of the newest E-max technology. IPS E-max is a layering ceramic that gives beautiful natural opalescence to dental crowns. It provides lifelike highly aesthetic results with true to nature light scattering and a balanced relationship between light and chroma. Wear and gloss characteristics are similar to the more traditional feldspathic veneered crowns, however the strength of E-max crowns enables us to give you a 10 year guarantee.
